I discovered recently that a new instructional Haidong Gumdo book has just recently become available in English through the United World Haedong Kumdo Federation. http://www.haedong-kumdo.org/ The book covers some terminology, history, basic exercises, ssangsoo gumbup, and shimssang gumbup.

Hi Grant,

The book by Grandmaster Jacobson has been around for 2-3 years. I have owned it for probably 2. It has just been very hard to buy due to the import/export restrictions in South Africa. However, Grandmaster Jacobson and his staff can help you through the process.

It is a decent book of the Sangsoo forms, but it has many (mostly minor) inconisistencies with the current World Haidong Gumdo Federation version of the forms.

So, good as a guide, but not an exact description of any of the forms. But, better than anything else that is out there in English that describes the forms.

How exactly did you find the book? I haven't been able to find a listing for it.

Just email them, and they will help you. Melanie Jacobson was my contact and she was very helpful. But, be warned, it is South Africa and their export restrictions mean you have to go to the bank and wire them the money. You cant use credit cards. It takes a while.
