I'm willing to make the sacrifice and be the one who throws flaming bags of poo at Charles. You know, just so he can practice his blocking techniques.

all you bastards... i read this discussion before going to bed last night and sure enough, i dreamt about ssgb5 (not that that is a bad thing).
according to the dream, the technique(s) in question have something to do with deflecting a pumpkin thrown by the Headless Horseman, killing him and then cutting down Ichabod Crane for being a total coward.
somehow, i don't think this was its intended purpose.

That's it! I knew we'd find the answer somehow or other.
There must have been a lot of pumpkin-throwing headless horsemen in Korea to warrant the inclusion of this technique. Ah, the good old days
Haidong,
Dean.

Flaming bags of poo, pumpkin tossin' headless horsemen, cat skining followed by some one-handed clapping. All this with some insightful philosophical discussions....
This has been one of the most entertaining I've read in a long time.
 Thanks everyone

Right - go!

Great clip, Tony! And a very interesting interpretation of the technique. That's why you are my hero.
As I recall my stories of Robin Hood and his band of Merry Men, blocking/deflecting arrows with a sword was pretty common fare for those guys. Don't know why it couldn't have been done in the East, as well. I'm not sure the technique in the pumsae is actually representative of that, but it's an interesting thought. Quite frankly, I think the pumsae are only representative of very general techniques. Being such, they allow for many possibilities in interpretation.

Pecos Bill was my hero before I met you, Tony. But it's only been you since then....As you well know.
Yes, that was the first time I had seen it.

I won't give anything away, but someone really needs to prevail upon Casey to tell about his further adventures of arrow blocking/dodging. When I heard the story I laughed so hard I fell down. Would anyone suspect that a life long marksman and hunter might anticipate his target's moves?
