I have been training in Haedong Kumdo (International Haedong Kumdo Federation/World Haedong Kumdo USA, which is an afiliate of the Korea Haedong Kumdo Association) for several years and am now faced with moving to a different city in a different state. So far, I have not found an IHF instructor there. I am wondering if anyone has had experience training under masters from both the International Haedong Kumdo Federation (or the Korea Haedong Kumdo Association) *and* the World Haidong Gumdo Federation who might be able to speak about the similarities and differences. I'm wondering what I might be able to expect if I should transfer to a Haidong Gumdo school. Would they accept my rank, etc.?

It appears most changes are moderate before 1st Dan. The forms are rather similar. WHGF adds Gyuk Gums 1-12 before blackbelt. I don't think those are similar to things you might have done.

My advice is to talk to an instructor from a school you are interested in.

I suspect (but it is only my guess) that ranks below blackbelt have a better chance of being honored directly (with some requirement to learn the new matieral) since the curriculums are somewhat similar, but 1st Dan and after, that may be a different story.
