Do you mean as stand-alone events - where HDGD is the only art?

Although it won't be a HDGD event, the Battle of Atalanta should have a Chanbara (sport sword fighting with foam weapons and helmet/padded gloves) this year.

I am helping to form this event and it should be an open tournament. In addition, there is a "traditional" forms category. In my opinion, HDGD forms would fit quite well.

Thank you

As a stand alone event, there may not be enough potential HDGD competitors at the local or even regional level to recoup the costs of hosting such an event. That's why HDGD has been coupled with other arts such as TKD and TSD at tournaments, I believe. Keep in mind that most local tournaments are held by their organizers as another source of revenue. Sure, they also serve as part of the overall marketing strategy, but I suspect that the tournament still needs to be profitable for the latter to be justified.

I thought the 2005 HDGD seminar/tourney week was a lot of fun. I'd like to see something like that happen in the USA. It would be even better if we could have some special honoured guests from Korea as officials, such as the President and Vice-President.

Here on this side of the States, dan testing is held twice annually. Personally, I think one of those gatherings would also serve as a great opportunity to host a HDGD-only tournament.
