So is the "Choson Ninja" legit, so to speak...? Well, of course not. Looks a bit like fencing technique, actually, (in the first clip at least). But the instructor does seem to have some interesting things to say. Legitimacy need not always be measured in terms of historical accuracy.

Choson Ninja's explanation of his Korean ninjitsu martial art is a bit, how should I say...confusing, but he seems to be a sincere person. I absolutely don't agree with teaching via Youtube but this is a free country.

I also thought that the last clip was hilarious. Anyone else try to cut on the sub atomic level  !

Thanks

Choson Ninja !!!??? could it be Sul Sa do ?? In the their website www.sul-sa-do.com, thye claimed how Sul Sa Do influenced the development of Ninjutsu in Japan???

As far as I know , Ninja techniques are nothing new, though Japanese ninja are the most or best covered due to movies. I am sure Korea has their own groups of Assassins, but whatever their names will be.

I am not against any people who has the freedom to claim this and that, but sometime certain martial arts being labelled quickly as " real korean arts" , may not bring good effect on the development of the arts itself. Will it cause a generalization by outsiders who will thinks anything "Korean martial arts " must be made up" or " make belief" ?? :?

Even till now, I am still having a reaction with people knowing me practising HDGD ,
" Oh thats Japanese Style Korean Sword Arts " or " Oh you are trying to be samurai ??" or WORSE , while I am practicing , there are people from God knows which floor they are in the their apartments , screaming from at top of their voice from the window " Hey you there, you are practising kendo , arent you ??"

I hope HDGD will remain true to its roots , irregardless whether it has new or old historical linking in the past. Thats I am truly striving for. :)

I thought I had posted this list before, but I guess I linked to it on another web forum. * Sorry * :(

One user on Youtube uploaded the 'Mother Load" of Korean martial arts clips. Most of the clips do a fair job of representing their art. The clips on Gicheon and Shim Gumdo are very good. Mileage may vary on other arts. Other arts include Subak, Taekyon, archery, and our own beloved hdgd.

hahahaha!

When I first read that, i read it as - "seol-sa do" as in "the way of diarrhea" (no offense to any practitioners).

i assume it's "sul" pronounced with a long u sound - "sool".

haha
"the way of diarrhea"... i suppose their korean to english translation wasn't entirely thought out. I wonder how many korean masters sit at the head table of their tests, listening to foreigners butcher their style's name [ kinda like "tie kwon do"] and think, "ah crap...."

i just got a kick out of myself, there. I should take my show on the road.

That's funny. But The Way of Diarrhea is a lost art.

I was corrected a few years ago on my pronunciation of the word Bonguk. The way I had been pronouncing it was too close to the Korean word for fart.

Along the same lines of pronouncing tae kwon do as tie kwon do is the pronunciation of hai dong gum do as hi dong goom do.

Even funnier when you go to their website and it says in large letters 'Jesus gives me strength' - boy are these guys authentic! Assassins from God - personally removing the enemies of Jesus with a prayer and a knife!! :?
