For those of you interested in GiCheon, there are two DVDs available through http://www.gicheon.org. The DVD titled Ki: The Science of Internal Energy" is purchased from Turtlepress for $24.95.

To purchase the instructional DVD, send a personal check in the amount of $45.00 USD to:

RUSSIA
Sankt Peterburg
195299
DO VOSTREBOVANIA

The above information regarding the ordering of the instructional DVD was provided to me by Master Lee Ki-Tae via e-mail correspondence. He stressed that DO VOSTREBOVANIA be included in the mailing address. He also requests that the check be wrapped in an additional piece of paper or two so as to not make the check discernable through the envelope.

If you have additional questions concerning this matter, Master Lee's e-mail address is gicheonmaster@yahoo.com.[/url]

I have the Turtle Press video on order. I will be glad to give a review when it comes in.

Master Lee, Kitae has recently updated his website at www.gicheon.org. If anyone is interested, it has lots of new information, and it is much easier to navigate than his old site.

I have the "instructional" video. While the content is very good the disc is not. Hopefully, they have been able to improve their process since I got it.

Mine is an overful, home-burned DVD which plays poorly or not at all in any of the 7 DVD players I have tried. With persistance, I have seen the whole disc. I am certain I could have obtained a replacement copy from them, but I kept putting it off until Master Lee's next visit to Korea... and I am still waiting for that.

It covers the basic postures with enormous amounts of repetition, and fairly clear explanation. The seminars are much better, of course. Much better.

I won't be happy to pay $45 for a DVD I can't even watch. I sure hope they have that problem corrected. Anthony, did you by chance let him know of the problem you have with your copy?

I told his wife at the seminar at which I bought it.

Once again, please forgive my ignorance, but what is the significance of Gicheon and why are we, as HDGD practicioners, interested in it?

Using the handy search button returns a lot of hits to the search term Gicheon. A "one-stop shopping" thread that answers your questions is here:

Thanks for the info.
Are you still training in Gicheon, and has it had the benefits you expected initally?

I regularly practice what I have been taught, but rarely go to seek out any more new material from Gicheon. I simply have too much on my plate.

I have found that dedicated practice of stances, either from HDGD or Gicheon, as well as Ki-Gong will allow you to maintain muscle and co-ordination in periods where you go through a training drought, as well as assist in preparing the body for more demanding workouts.

I really feel like my shoulder has been greatly improved, although I have to wonder about my hip joints. They seem to be getting worse.

As for hand-to-hand effectiveness, I am now convinced that the amount of effort required to wire myself to fight and move that way is beyond what I feel the benefit would be for me at this stage in life and training. If I had things to do over again... my answer would be quite different.
