Very awesome video. I find the distance archery in kyungdo to be equally impressive. Last deer I shot at with an arrow didn't have the courtesy to even acknowledge that I was shooting at it. :( And he was a big deer (for around here, anyway).

Interestingly, in Japanese archery, the "Robin Hood" shot is frowned upon because it ruins an arrow. Although Herr Herrigel made much of it in his little book Zen in the Art of Archery (before he went off to run a Nazi concentration camp), Yamada Shoji's article, "The Myth of Zen in the Art of Archery," in Martial Arts in the Modern World clarifys the subject.

The top nine rated male and female archers in the world are Korean.

In traditional Korean archery, the target is 178 meters away. The traditional bow is a composite laminate recurve, similar to a Mongolian bow in some respects. Interesting art; i'd like to try it sometime.

I'd be curious to see how well they would do with a traditional English Longbow.
